A New Beginning
My life as I know it is ending. My husband of almost 11 years filed for divorce a few months ago. We had been separated over 2 years, so it didn't exactly come as a shock, but it's still been an adjustment. I can't say I'm exactly crushed, either- it was not a healthy situation for me to be in. Anyway, I am starting anew- whether I like it or not!
Before we separated, I had been a stay-at-home mom and homeschooled my two children. Now I'm working part-time and still home-schooling - which is quite a stretch. I haven't pursued any college education or work training... I didn't have the time to- my family, my children were my life. So here I am, working part time as a babysitter, unable to even get a job doing what I did 10 years ago- it now requires a degree- and wondering what on earth the future holds! I am a Christian and I firmly believe that God is in control and He will provide for me and my children... but it's a frightening prospect, nonetheless.
Now to my plan: I have always been creative. Even as a child I was drawn to home decorating and craft magazines - I would pore over them for hours. As I have grown older- especially these past couple of years when I have been allowed to pursue my own interests- I have learned that I'm actually quite a bit artistic! It's shocking to me, because I had been sort of "trained" to believe I could do no right and was pretty much worthless. (Did I mention my marriage was not a good situation?). So, anyway I want to use my talents and develop them and actually pursue a career and a life based on it. This is just a place for me to post my accomplishments and endeavors, and to hopefully link to other like-minded people.
I would love to hear from anyone who has managed to get past the "starving artist" label and actually make a go of this! My personal abilities are focused mainly in scrapbooking, photography, photo altering, collage, decorating, party planning, writing, decorative painting, and design. I will be posting projects and such as I finish them. If anything looks like something you'd be interested in, contact me- I'd love to do a custom piece for you!
